BRAND HISTORY
LaPointe is a self-taught female founded company that began in downtown New York City in 2010, by Sally LaPointe and Sarah Adelson. The two met while both studying Fashion at the Rhode Island School of Design. Upon graduation in 2006 the duo then moved to New York to pursue their dream of launching an eponymous fashion brand. Sarah and Sally always knew that between their two skill sets, Sally being the creative, and Sarah being the operations, they had what it took to build a brand for longevity.
Sallys design point of view is that fashion does not have to be complicated, unattainable or intimidating. She wanted to break the idea that luxury needs to come with an air of arrogance by designing clothing that makes it easy for the wearer to make a statement. She believes that "wearing a LaPointe is believing in the power of you". Sally and Sarah set out to build a brand on this foundation, creating a resonating message about empowerment and individuality. With no industry experience, the two started the company out of their shared downtown loft apartment and quickly garnered attention after showing their very first collection at NYFW. Despite this being a risky move, it caught the attention of Lady Gaga who wore a dress straight from the runway becoming the young brands first press moment in 2010.
What sets the brand apart is Sally's natural ability to approach design in a simple but effective way by using color and texture to make a visual statement. By creating this undeniable DNA, the brand has been able to cultivate a loyal clientele and has continuously delivered seasonal evolutions while remaining true to the original mission of empowerment.
Now after 15 years of strategically building the company, LaPointe is represented in top tier retailers across the globe such as Neiman Marcus, Saks, and Harrods, and continues to garner press from prestigious publications such as Vogue, WWD, and The New York Times. As well, LaPointe has notably dressed some of the most influential people in the world including two First Ladies, Oprah, Beyonce, Rihanna, Adele, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Hailey Bieber, Paris Hilton and many more.
The LaPointe headquarters proudly operate out of Soho to this day.
